About Us
Village Drug Shop has been a part of the Athens community since 1958. In 1985 Sonny Thurmond bought the pharmacy from the original owner, Lamar Dooley, and now serves the Athens Community with his son and second generation pharmacist, Chris Thurmond. We are a small but full service pharmacy with all the benefits of large chain stores but with the added benefit of quality personal hometown care. With fast, friendly, professional service and the highest-quality medicines and health products, you'll always find somebody at our pharmacy to greet you by name. Our pharmacists are happy to take the time to counsel you on your medications and answer any questions you might have. We offer a variety of clinical services for diabetes (including an AADE certified education program, diabetic testing supplies and custom molded diabetic footwear), hypertension, cholesterol, and are even a CDC certified Yellow Fever Travel Clinic providing all manner of travel and other immunizations.
